Is it really important what do u do for living? Well, in Malaysia, most parents would want their children to study hard, get good education, be a doctor or engineer so that they can live a better lifestyle. That is the typical mindset of every parents. Well, maybe it is due to fact that the wage discrepancy between the professionals and the blue collar workers is huge.

When people ask me what course am I doing in Sydney Uni, I’ll normally tell them I am doing mechanical engineering and for sure they’ll look so impressed. But in Malaysia, people would think, well, just another mechanical engineering student. This is mainly due to the fact that engineering is considered one of the hardest course here and only the chosen ones can do it. But back in Malaysia, there are heaps of engineering students, you can pull out any engineering student on the street.

The reason behind this is pretty simple. The wage between engineers and other odd job works is not that much different, well, I mean for the graduate, and also people here have a choice to do what they want to do, they can still make a living out of that. In Malaysia, it seems like being engineers and doctors will definitely guarantee high salary. Sometimes we do not have a choice in life, do we?

A few months back when I was watching Britain’s Got Talent, I was so envy those who have raw talent and be able to do what they like to do instead of sticking to the conventional jobs. Well, for some, your talent is not important as it can not offer you a high salary. But for the sake of money, you have to do something that you dont really like to do. So the choice is up you.

Personality plus ... Roxxxy with her inventor, Douglas Hines. Photo: AFP

LAS VEGAS: Roxxxy the sex robot had a coming-out party in Sin City at the weekend.

In what is billed as a world first, a life-size robotic girlfriend complete with artificial intelligence and flesh-like synthetic skin was introduced to adoring fans at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas on Saturday.

”She can’t vacuum, she can’t cook, but she can do almost anything else if you know what I mean,” said her inventor, Douglas Hines, of the company TrueCompanion.

”She’s a companion. She has a personality. She hears you. She listens to you. She speaks. She feels your touch. She goes to sleep. We are trying to replicate a personality of a person.”

At 170-centimetres tall and 54.43 kilograms, Roxxxy ”has a full C cup and is ready for action”, said Hines, who was an artificial intelligence engineer at Bell Laboratories before he started up TrueCompanion.

The anatomically correct robot has an articulated skeleton, which means it can move like a person even though it cannot walk or move its limbs independently.

Robotic movement is built into ”the three inputs” and a mechanical heart that powers a liquid cooling system.

Roxxxy comes with five personalities. Wild Wendy is outgoing and adventurous. Frigid Farrah is reserved and shy. There is a young and naive personality and a Mature Martha that Hines describes as having a ”matriarchal kind of caring”. S&M Susan is geared for more adventurous types.

Aspiring partners can customise such features as race, hair colour and breast size. A male sex robot named Rocky is in development.

People ordering the robots online at truecompanion.com detail their tastes and interests to get the mechanical girlfriend in synch with her mate.

”She knows exactly what you like,” says Hines. ”If you like Porsches, she likes Porsches. If you like soccer, she likes soccer.” Roxxxy can chat with her flesh-and-blood mate, and touching her elicits a variety of comments.

Inspiration for the sex robot sprang from the September 11, 2001 attacks. ”I had a friend who passed away in 9/11,” Hines said. ”I promised myself I would create a program to store his personality, and that became the foundation for Roxxxy True Companion.”

Hines sees the robot as a recreational innovation and an outlet for the shy, people with sexual dysfunction and those who want to experiment without risk.

Roxxxy costs between $US7000 ($7634) and $US9000 depending on features.

First of all, Happy New Year everyone! We can kiss goodbye to 2009, what a year it has been! 2009 is a year which so many celebrities passed away and also some catastrophic events taken place. Hopefully 2010 will be a better year as it is a new decade. :)

We went to Circular Quay at 12.30pm noon and then we set up our picnic spot at about 1pm. After that, we have to sit there for 11 hours till 12am. Is it worth the wait? Tell you later. :P By the way, we spent our time playing poker, monopoly and etc. Well, we played monopoly for almost 5hours, unbelievable. After all, we don’t have much thing to do while waiting. The weather is unpredictable just like women, raining and sunny but all of us were used to it so no big deal for us. Patience is a virtue. At about 3.30pm, opera house is closed to visitors as it is totally full, they don’t want to sink the Opera House. :) All the visitors and travellers were tired of waiting, and even a beach ball could make the crowd going. lol. At 9pm sharp, there is a 8-minute family fireworks so that the family with kids could go hope early after the 9pm fireworks. Guess what, of course nobody will leave as they have been waiting for so long, it was just another 3hours of wait before the grand fireworks.

At 11pm, everyone stood up and looked for a good spot to see the fireworks. Before that, in between every hour, there is a small fireworks to remind us how long we still have to wait. The moment that we all have been waiting finally arrived, the grand fireworks start at 12am without any proper countdown (yes, it was so lame!), the fireworks are not only from Harbour Bridge but also from Opera House and Royal Botanical Garden. 12 minutes of fireworks but almost 11 hours of waiting, the fireworks had to be great but somehow it disappoint us, it was not as good as last year and the year before. I was like, “Is that it?”, apparently the money is not well spent and the waiting time is not worth it at all. After all, it is the last year for me in Sydney so I don’t really mind.

Happy New Year everyone! :)
